Veneers

Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and smile. They are composed of thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. Veneers are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a beautiful and attractive smile. Often times, they are alternatives to crowns when minimal tooth structure has been chipped, fractured, or lost.

Reasons for porcelain veneers:

  • Cosmetically, to create a uniform, white, beautiful smile
  • Crooked teeth
  • Misshapen teeth
  • Discolored or stained teeth
  • Teeth that are too small or too large
  • Unwanted or uneven spaces
  • Worn or chipped teeth

What getting veneers entails:
Getting veneers usually requires three visits to complete the process.

First, impressions of your teeth are taken and sent to our dental laboratory to create wax models of your veneers.

At the second visit, your doctor will present your custom models to show the exact shape and size that your veneers will be. After going over the models together, your teeth will be prepared lightly to allow for the thickness of the veneer. A mold or impression of the teeth is taken and a shade (color) will then be chosen by you and your doctor. Temporary veneers are placed and worn for a couple of weeks.

At the third and final visit, the veneers are bonded over the prepared teeth. When bonded to the teeth, the ultra-thin porcelain veneers are virtually undetectable and are highly resistant to coffee, tea, or even cigarette stains. Refraining from using your veneers as tools to open and cut things will prolong their life, and if accidental breakage or damage occurs, it is usually possible to replace only the veneer involved.
